JCKH aims to provide you with the optimum care you need as prescribed or recommended by your healthcare givers. It is JCKH’s policy that you as a patient should know your rights, responsibilities and obligations. We encourage you to discuss such rights, responsibilities and obligations openly with those involved in your care.


Your Rights as a Patient include:


  • You have the right to receive first – rate healthcare services, with full respect to your dignity regardless of your color, age, religion, race, sex, nationality or disability.
  • You have the right to know the name(s) of your treating physician/consultant and the name of nurses, and staff members involved in your treatment and care.
  • You have the right to be seen by your treating consultant/ physician and on the same day of admission and daily during your stay in JCKH.
  • You have the right to know from your treating Consultant and/or Physician, in a language that you understand all the information about your health problem/illness, diagnosis and the treatment plan and any other instructions or recommendations about the follow-up care.
  • You have the right to discuss your illness, treatment and source of payment in full privacy and confidentiality.
  • You have the right to know the purpose of any test (s) and/or investigation (s) in a diagnostic procedure to be performed on you.
  • You have the right to know the risk (s), benefits and/or other options of any procedure before giving your consent.
  • You have the right to acquire the needed assessment, treatment and management of pain as directed by your treating Consultant/Physician.
  • You have the right to refuse a treatment or a procedure, if you are not sure or clear on the recommended management and/or outcome however, you will be responsible for your decision.
  • You have the right to be selective of your companions and/or visitors in accordance with the JCKH Policy & Procedures.
  • You have the right to request a second opinion, change your treating Consultant/Physician or transfer to another hospital through your treating consultant/physician according to JCKH Policy & Procedure.
  • You have the right to request a copy of your hospital bill.
  • You have the right for discharge against medical advice, but to follow JCKH Policy & Procedure in such situation.
  • You have the right to appoint an individual who represents you in signing the hospital documents including the release of your information.
  • Upon discharge, you have the right to request a medical report, sick leave form, follow-up appointment or patient and family education (if needed).
